Artist Statement
My relationships have always been an important part of my life. Although I appreciate all of my interactions with others, above all I value relationships in which I find comfort. Because I value it so much, I try to express my gratitude to those who have brought me comfort through my artwork.
When I think of comfort, I think of my mother. In my work, I represent my mother through the form of an egg; it is how we all begin, and the comfort we leave at birth. My pieces tend to be small. “Nesting” is small; I feel that the size expresses how personal it is.
I want to be a fibers and ceramics art teacher and a toy designer; I feel a great attachment to helping people express their feelings and, for me, making art and playing with toys allows me to do that.
