Artist Statement

I find strength in vulnerability. Being vulnerable is not achieved through putting myself on a pedestal or in a state of groveling. It's in standing up straight. It’s in revealing the ugly chips of myself, of being scared, brash, selfish, jittery, and rude. Vulnerability is unfiltered, unplanned. It gives me nothing to show, nothing to say, and nothing to stand on. However, in this space of brutish honesty, creativity flourishes. The bareness of living vulnerably makes my everyday experiences a blank canvas for idea creation, spontaneity, connection, and collaboration. Vulnerability in itself is not a theme, it is more the template in which I use to express myself. It helps me dig up recurring themes of metamorphosis, ephemerality, body, and self-recreation in my art.
